Award Winning Photographer Sunshine Coast
Last weekend was a big one. The Queensland Epson Photographer of the Year awards were held and I was lucky enough to receive a gold and silver in the portrait category. It was a big journey for me to enter the awards. I nearly didn’t make the deadline and at the last minute, had to throw one of my images in the bin, only entering three of the four I was supposed to enter. The judging process can be quite ruthless with the best of the best judges from all over Australia, critiquing every print. The great thing about these awards is that it’s a print award. It is one thing to produce an image that looks great in the digital format on a screen but to be able to produce the perfect print is a task requiring much time and precision. Especially when you know it will be scrutinised under bright lights and with a panel of 5 judges searching every pixel. So I am elated and humbled to receive a gold and a silver. I am extremely grateful to the AIPP, my colleagues, friends and family for their support as I manically prepared my entry. I am so glad I did. Now I have qualified for the national print awards and I must frantically get ready to meet that deadline. Wish me luck!
